2023 Spring Semester Principles IV
Dear Members of OzU,
As you know, due to the February 6 earthquakes, it was previously announced that the 2023 Spring semester courses would start online, and that depending on the governing decision to be made as a result of YÖK’s assessment, the 2023 Spring semester principles would be revised.
In line with YÖK’s announcement on March 30, 2023, the 2023 Spring Semester Principles have been re-evaluated and it was decided by the relevant boards of our University to update those principles as stated below, starting from Monday, April 3, 2023:
1. All English Preparatory, undergraduate and graduate courses that started online at the beginning of 2023 Spring semester will be taught in classrooms as of April 3, 2023, in line with the statement made by YÖK. It will also be possible to attend these courses online (as synchronous, recorded or asynchronous). All quizzes, midterms, and similar other in-semester assessments will be administered online for these courses, while their final and composite examinations will be administered face-to-face as previously announced for these courses before these courses were converted to online.
2. For the limited number of courses which were already planned and announced as fully online before the 2023 Spring decision of YÖK, final and composite examinations will also be administered face-to-face as previously announced in their syllabi.
3. Undergraduate and graduate courses that are fully-applied or that include application activities which must be offered over the entire semester will continue to be taught face-to-face on campus. Their in-semester and end-of-semester assessments (i.e., quizzes, midterms, and final examinations) will be administered face-to-face on campus as previously announced.
4. Attendance will not be taken throughout the semester in courses that can be taken online in the 2023 Spring semester. However, in face-to-face applied courses specified in clause 3 above, the attendance requirement will still be applicable as announced in their syllabi.
These rules will be effective as of Monday, April 3, 2023 in accordance with the decisions taken by the relevant boards of our University within the framework of YÖK’s announcement on March 30, 2023. In line with these rules, students who are registered for online courses may, if they wish, continue to follow their courses online off-campus, or attend their classes in-person in the designated classrooms during the scheduled class times on campus.
Kind regards,
Student Services
